Untimely Passings

Why is it that so often, great musicians pass away? It hasn't always been drugs. There has been cancer, plane crashes, auto accidents. Why does it always go after many of the great ones, yet those mediochre ones are left to pump out their trash? Bob Marley never deserved the cancer that spread from his foot to the rest of his body. Cliff Burton of Metallica died in a bus turnover. I begin to wonder what would have been if many of my favorites had never died.

ohhh damn spam. i wonder how much business they get.

anyways i often contemplate the same thing about those musicians. i swear my dad has tears in his eyes whenever he sees a doco about john lennon. the musician i always think about is jeff buckley. he would have had such a beautiful path and so much growth ahead of him. i heard a set from 1996 when he played in australia, what i would give to have been there.

i wonder what Hendrix would have sounded like now, with a lot more albums under his belt. just think what Metallica would sound like if cliff was their bassist now, although i have to admit i like rob trujillo, very unique style and a good musician.

i also forgot Bon Scott. sure Brian Johnson was a good replacement who did the vocals on the best rock album ever 'Back In Black', but Bon was the man.
